Walon-le-Dale Primary School has a nursery class offering places to children age 3-4 years. Children learn in a calm and nurturing environment, full of rich learning opportunities with caring staff. Our children also have access to a large outdoor area. We accommodate full and part-time places and are flexible with schedules where possible. Our nursery is open during term time only.
If your child is eligible we offer 30 hours or 15 hours. Parents who are entitled to 30 hours have these hours met by attending 4 full days 8.30-3.15pm and one half day 8.30-11.30am. Parents using 15 hours have these met by attending 5 sessions a week, usually either mornings or afternoons. Extra sessions can be paid for at £20 per session (or £25 for one session plus lunchtime).
In addition to the morning and afternoon teacher-led nursery sessions above, from September 2026 we are offering optional chargeable extended services as follows: -
7:45am – 8.30am Breakfast club (£6 per session)
3.15pm – 5.30pm After School club (£9.50 per session)
As these sessions are not teacher-led, they are not included in the 15 or 30 hour entitlement funded by the government.
To apply for a nursery place please contact the school office for the LCC Maintained Nursery application form. Your child must be aged 3 to attend our nursery but application forms can be returned 18-24 months in advance.

Optional extras
- Nursery children can opt to have school dinners for £2.90 per day (£3 from September 2026) or can bring their own packed lunch.
- Swimming lessons in our school pool (arranged through Swim Odyssey at a discounted price)
